“Cultivating Community”
Welcome to Wollaston Garden Club's Web Site!
Located in Quincy, Massachusetts and founded in 1928 we are currently celebrating our 84th year. We presently have 111 members including men and women gardeners of all ages, abilities and interests, from novice to master gardener.
We are members of the Garden Club Federation of Massachusetts, Inc (www.gcfm.org) and the National Garden Clubs, Inc. (www.gardenclub.org).
Most of our educational programs and meetings are open to the community. Member’s programs include field trips and workshops in floral design and horticulture. Our civic beautification committee maintains a number of public sites in the city of Quincy, and our conservation committee is actively involved in projects preserving the environment in our city.
We encourage local gardeners interested in joining our club to attend a meeting or two, and read the club By-Laws, membership responsibilities and other pertinent information located in the Members section of this site.

Andi RossRain Gardens at Our April Meeting
On April 26, Andi Ross a master gardener and landscape and garden designer, presented a wonderful program, Singing In the Rain: Rain Gardens, explaining about the water cycle, and how we should retain water on our properties with rain barrels, impervious hard-scape surfaces, and rain gardens. Andi described the basic techniques for building rain gardens and gave us a list of native New England plants that can withstand brief periods of standing water as well as tolerate extended periods of dryness.
Our luncheon hostess was Karen Lundsgaard with her committee of Krisanne G, Sonja P, Barbara L, Pat A, Marylynn S, and Colleen L for the wonderful luncheon. Marcia Smith created an incredible, beautiful centerpiece of fresh lilacs in deep purple, purple, and white, with tulips; while Mary Cassidy and Colleen Lawlor designed smaller table centerpieces, all of them with birds’ nests and created in a variety of design styles. All the floral arrangements were raffled off at the end of the meeting.
Master Gardener, Carol Fisher did a short demonstration on some important techniques for getting plants sale-ready for the Plant Sale and Jan Clifford outlined important information from the Plant Sale Committee. Valarie Stromberg collected for the QEN raffle funding efforts to protect Town Brook, and our assistant treasurer, Marnie Dunn continued the collection of WGC dues and renewal of membership. (deadline for dues/membership renewal is May 31st). A business meeting preceded the program. See meeting photos...
